Part 2: The Chinese Zodiac
The Chinese Zodiac (known as Sheng Xiao) is similar to the Western Zodiac in that it follows a cycle of 12 elements that reflect personal characteristics. However, our zodiac is based on 12 months of the year whereas the Chinese zodiac is based on 12 years.
The Chinese believe that people who are born in a particular year of the 12 year cycle take on the characteristics of an animal.
